How to Sow Seeds

Method: Direct sow
Spacing: 40-60cm
Growing notes: Sow Cabbage Savoy King F1 seeds 5mm (1/4in) deep in a seed bed, tray, or punnet filled with a good-quality seed-raising mix. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Seedlings will typically emerge within 7-10 days.

Once the seedlings have developed 2-4 leaves and are sturdy enough to handle, transplant them to their final growing positions, spacing plants 40-60cm (18-24in) apart to allow room for the compact heads to develop—plant in a sunny spot with well-drained, fertile soil enriched with compost or aged manure. Firm the soil around the plants and water well to help them settle in. Water regularly, particularly during dry periods, and apply a light application of organic fertiliser to support growth every two weeks. Protect young plants from pests such as cabbage moths using netting or collars. Harvest your Savoy King F1 cabbage when the heads feel firm and are the desired size, typically 12-14 weeks after sowing.
