Each edging length measures 2.4 metres and can be shaped on-site into straight runs, flowing curves or precise angles. Available in a range of heights and steel thicknesses, SHAPESCAPER® edging is suitable for everything from simple garden borders to raised garden beds and architectural landscape features.

Galvanised steel features a protective zinc coating that helps resist corrosion. Initially displaying a bright, spangled metallic finish, the surface gradually weathers to a softer matte grey appearance, creating a neutral, understated look that complements a wide variety of landscape designs.

SHAPESCAPER® Galvanised Steel Garden Edging is backed by a 10-year structural warranty, subject to the manufacturer's installation requirements and warranty conditions.

Dimensions & Installation Guide

All SHAPESCAPER® steel edging lengths are 2400mm long. Select the appropriate profile height and steel thickness for your installation.

*Stake heights and maximum above-ground measurements are based on the manufacturer's installation recommendations. Installations outside these guidelines may not be covered under warranty.

**A 14–21 day lead time applies to 2.5mm profiles.

What's Included: Each 2.4m edging length includes one joiner and the required joining screws and rivets where applicable. Installation stakes are sold separately, allowing you to select the appropriate quantity and height for your particular installation.

How to Select Your Edging

1. Choose Your Profile Height

Select the edging height based on how much you want visible above ground. A portion of the profile must be buried to provide stability.

For example, if you want approximately 290mm of edging visible above ground, select the 390mm profile. Refer to the table above for the maximum recommended exposed height of each profile.

2. Select Your Steel Thickness

• 1.6mm: Suitable for lighter-duty garden edging applications, available in selected lower profiles.
• 2.0mm: Recommended for most residential landscaping applications, providing a balance of strength and flexibility.
• 2.5mm: Heavy-duty option for more demanding landscaping applications where additional rigidity is required.

3. Select Your Stakes

SHAPESCAPER® edging is secured using compatible steel stakes, which are sold separately. The number of stakes required depends on your garden layout, edging height and installation conditions.

• Straight runs: Allow approximately 4 stakes per 2.4m length.
• Curved runs: Allow approximately 3 stakes per 2.4m length.
• Stake height: Select stakes approximately twice the height of your chosen edging profile, following the manufacturer's recommendations.

Additional stakes may be required depending on ground conditions and the loads being retained.

4. Plan Your Layout & Joining Components

Each edging length measures 2400mm and includes one joiner per length, along with the required screws and rivets for profiles that require them. There is no need to purchase standard joining components separately.

Installation & Care

Correct installation and care are important to ensure the strength, stability and long-term performance of SHAPESCAPER® Galvanised Steel Garden Edging.

• Prepare the area: Mark out the required edging layout and prepare the ground for installation.
• Set the edging depth: Bury the appropriate portion of the profile, ensuring the exposed height does not exceed the manufacturer's recommendations.
• Shape the edging: Form curves or bends as required to suit the garden design.
• Install stakes: Secure the edging using compatible SHAPESCAPER® stakes, purchased separately, at the recommended spacing.
• Join lengths: Connect adjoining lengths using the included joiners, screws and rivets as required for the selected profile.
• Protect cut edges: When cutting or drilling during installation, apply a suitable cold galvanising zinc-rich coating to exposed steel surfaces to help prevent corrosion.
• Repair surface damage: If the galvanised coating is damaged or surface rust appears, clean the affected area, allow it to dry and apply a suitable cold galvanising coating.
• General cleaning: Occasionally wash with mild detergent and water to remove accumulated dirt and debris.
• Check alignment: Ensure the edging is level, securely supported and correctly positioned before backfilling.

Important: Galvanised steel naturally changes appearance with outdoor exposure, gradually developing a more subdued matte grey finish. Minor variations in surface appearance are normal and do not necessarily indicate a defect.

For maximum product longevity and warranty coverage, installations should follow the manufacturer's recommendations, particularly regarding exposed height, stake selection, ground support and protection of exposed steel surfaces.
