Red and green lettuce salad bowl seeds produce a stunning blend of red and green oak-shaped leaves that make a colourful and fresh addition to salads. The leaves grow in a tidy, open bowl shape, making for quick and easy harvesting throughout the growing season.

The flavour is perfect for lettuce: mild and refreshing, with a slight sweetness that makes it at home in everything from fresh salads to wraps and sandwiches. With good resistance to pests and the summer heat, this lettuce thrives even during the hotter months, giving you months of consistent greens. This lettuce is easy to grow in containers, too, so you can enjoy homegrown greens no matter how big your garden is.

How to Sow Seeds

Method: Sow your fast-cropping red and green lettuce at two-week intervals for a continuous supply throughout the growing season.
Depth: Plant the seeds thinly, 5mm (¼in) deep in rows 25-30cm (10-12in) apart.
Thinning: Once the seedlings emerge, typically within 7-14 days, thin them out to 20cm (8in) apart and keep them well-watered.
Growing notes: Provide occasional boosts with liquid fertiliser to encourage healthy growth.
