How to Sow Seeds

Method: Direct sow
Depth: 3mm
Growing notes: Sow your iceberg lettuce seeds indoors from mid-winter or directly in the garden after the last frost and again after the worst summer heat. Iceberg lettuce prefers cooler growing conditions as heat can cause the plant to bolt. Sow 3mm (1/8") deep into well-prepared soil. Water lettuce regularly and apply liquid fertiliser every two weeks to promote quick growth.

Seedlings should emerge in 7-10 days.

When to Plant

General: The best time to plant your iceberg lettuce will vary depending on the region you live in. In cooler regions, you should plant in the early spring after the last frost through to the late summer to enjoy an autumn harvest. In warmer regions, they are the perfect spring and autumn planting seeds, allowing you to avoid the summer heat.
