Description
Hot Thai Bird’s Eye chilli seeds are a must-have for anyone who loves bold, intense flavours. These Bird’s Eye chilli seeds grow into compact plants that produce clusters of slender, chillies, each about 7.5cm long, with a fiery red colour and taste that stand out as much in the garden as they do in the kitchen. Known for its intense heat and bright flavour, Bird’s Eye is one of the spiciest chillies and a staple in Thai and Indian cuisine. Small yet mighty, they are perfect for spicing up authentic Asian soups, stir-fries, sauces, salads, and curries. Their bold colour makes them an eye-catching garnish, too. Plant them in a sunny spot with well-drained soil to enjoy a consistent supply of home-grown heat. The small size of the Bird’s Eye Chilli makes it an excellent choice for drying so you can enjoy a spicy kick even when the growing season is over. Simply hang chillies on twine in a dry location with good airflow and no direct sun to dry or use a dehydrator. Find your favourite chilli seeds in Mr Fothergill’s extensive range, or grow even more delicious ingredients with our full collection of Asian greens seeds, onion seeds, and herb seeds.

How to Sow Seeds

Method: Pots
Growing notes: Sow your Hot Thai Bird’s Eye chilli seed 5mm (1/4 in) deep in fertile, well-drained garden soil or pots, spacing them thinly and keeping the soil moist. Make sure the plants receive plenty of sunlight for optimal growth. Seedlings will emerge in 7-21 days. Harvest chillies as needed, approximately 12-14 weeks from sowing. Pick chillies regularly to encourage further fruit production and keep the plant healthy.
