These peppers (chillies) are so useful in pickles, sauces and curries. Chilli vinegar can be made from the green fruits. Warnings: Harmful via skin.

How to Sow Seeds

Method: Seed trays / Punnets / Direct sow
Depth: 5mm
Spacing: 50cm
Growing notes: Sow 5mm (1/4”) deep in seed trays or punnets using seed raising mix or compost. Transplant to final position when 7-10cm (3-4”) high, spacing 50cm (20”) apart. Do not let the plants dry out but avoid over-watering. Feed occasionally with liquid fertiliser. Can also be sown direct in growing position in warm soil.

When to Plant

General: The best time to plant cayenne pepper seeds is from late winter through to spring. In cooler areas, start seeds indoors or in a warm, sheltered spot, then move plants outdoors once the risk of frost has passed. In warmer regions, seeds can be sown directly once soil temperatures are consistently warm.
