These climbing plants produce masses of grape size fruit that resemble tiny watermelons and have a fresh flavour, like cucumber with a twist of citrus. Native to Mexico and Central America these perennial plants are very drought tolerant and easy to grow. Staking recommended.

How to Sow Seeds

Growing notes: Sow 3-4 seeds in a group, 5mm (1/4in) deep, later thinning to the strongest two seedlings. Keep moist. Seedlings emerge in 14-21 days.Sow in rows 60cm (2ft) apart. To encourage growth of side shoots, pinch out growing tips at 5-6 leaf stage. Harvest: 12-14 weeks from sowing.
