Description
Rossa Lunga di Firenze is a much-loved Italian onion variety with long, pink bulbs that taste as good as they look. You can pick these heirloom seeds young as salad onions with a wonderfully sweet, mild flavour or let them mature for a stronger, more pungent flavour. They’re an essential ingredient in the traditional Italian ‘Spring vegetable risotto’, adding a delicious sweet-and-savoury depth of flavour. A great choice for Australian gardens, this onion seed thrives in well-drained soil with plenty of sunlight. Whether you’re enjoying fresh, mild onions or waiting for a stronger flavour later in the season, Rossa Lunga di Firenze onion seeds give you the flexibility to grow exactly what you need. Pair these Rossa Lunga di Firenze onion seeds with tomato seeds and herb seeds for the perfect Italian-inspired garden. How to Sow Seeds

Method: Pots / Direct sow
Growing notes: Sow Rossa Lunga di Firenze onion seeds thinly in a well-prepared seedbed or directly into pots or container gardens positioned in full sun. Space rows 25cm (10in) apart and cover seeds lightly with 5mm (1/4in) of fine soil. Firm the soil gently, water gently, and keep moist and weed-free. Onion seedlings usually appear within 14-21 days. Thinning is generally not needed for this variety. For a continuous supply, sow more onion seeds every 4-6 weeks.
