Botanical name – Loropetalum chinense var. rubrum 'Plum Gorgeous'
Common name – Plum Gorgeous, Chinese fringe flower
Description – A compact evergreen shrub with a bushy habit and deep purple foliage that matures to a dark, almost black colour. In spring, small, bright pink, fringe-like flowers appear in clusters on the tips of the branches. A great plant for adding colour and contrast to the garden or as a low hedge.

Location – Prefers a well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Thrives in slightly acidic soil and is tolerant of drought and heat once established.
Care – Prune after flowering to maintain a compact shape and promote new growth. Fertilise in spring with a slow-release fertiliser formulated for acid-loving plants. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system.
