Quick Facts
Premium Orchid Blend Cymbidium & Native Orchids Up to 4 Months Feeding Excellent Drainage

Orchid Care Services Cymbidium Orchid Compost is a premium, specialist growing mix developed for Cymbidium and suitable native orchids. Carefully blended from pine bark, selected gravels, organic fertilisers and natural pH-balancing additives, it provides the open, free-draining growing environment orchids need for healthy root development.

Produced by orchid-growing specialists with over 28 years of experience, this proven formulation combines excellent aeration with balanced moisture retention. Added organic fertilisers provide nutrients for up to four months after repotting, helping support healthy establishment and continued growth.

Key Benefits:
  • Specialist orchid formulation: Designed for Cymbidiums and suitable native orchids rather than general-purpose container plants.
  • Open, free-draining structure: Pine bark and gravels promote airflow around roots and help prevent waterlogging.
  • Up to four months of feeding: Added organic fertilisers provide nutrients following repotting.
  • Natural pH-balancing additives: Help maintain a suitable growing environment for orchid roots.
  • Proven growing medium: Developed by experienced orchid growers with a long history of producing specialist orchid mixes.
Ideal For:
  • Cymbidium orchids
  • Suitable native orchids grown in pots
  • Repotting established orchids
  • Potting orchid divisions and young established plants
  • Refreshing old or deteriorating orchid growing media
Composition:
  • Selected pine bark
  • Gravels for drainage and aeration
  • Organic fertilisers
  • Natural pH-balancing additives
How to Use:
  1. Select a clean orchid pot with generous drainage holes.
  2. Carefully remove the orchid from its existing container and gently clear away old, deteriorated growing media.
  3. Inspect the root system and remove dead or damaged roots using clean tools.
  4. Position the orchid at its original planting depth and fill around the roots with fresh Cymbidium Orchid Compost.
  5. Gently settle the mix around the roots without compacting it excessively or burying the base of the plant.
  6. Water thoroughly, allow excess water to drain and place the orchid in a suitable protected position while it establishes.
Growing Tips:
  • Repot Cymbidiums when the growing mix begins to break down or the plant has outgrown its container, ideally after flowering.
  • Keep the growing medium evenly moist during active growth without allowing the pot to remain waterlogged.
  • Provide bright, filtered light and good air circulation, protecting plants from harsh summer sun.
  • As the initial nutrient supply is used, follow an appropriate orchid feeding program.

Orchid requirements vary by species. Choose a growing medium suited to the orchid's natural growing habits and adjust watering and feeding to seasonal conditions.
