Description

Large daisy-like pink flowers and fleshy green foliage make Coastal Pigface a colourful and hardy Australian native ground cover. Ideal for coastal gardens, rockeries and erosion control, it thrives in sandy, well-drained soils and is highly tolerant of salt spray and dry conditions, while attracting bees and other beneficial pollinators.

How to Sow Seeds

Method: Sow in in warm areas at any time.
Depth: It is beneficial to add wildflower seed starter granules to soil surface.
Germination: Seedlings emerge 2-5 weeks.
Transplanting: Transplant when plants about 7cm (3") high, spacing plants 15cm (6") apart.
Growing notes: In colder climates wait until the danger of frost is over. Fill pots or seed trays with a moist quality seed raising mix. Place 7-10cm (3-4") of dry leaves on the soil and set alight. Remove burnt debris and lightly scuff the surface of the soil, then sow the seeds on top and firm down lightly. Water, and then keep evenly moist. Cover the pots or trays with clear polythene to preserve moisture and warmth. Remove when germination starts. Place in a warm shaded position to germinate fully. Grow in full sun or part shade and in any well-drained soil. Water in well and then regularly until established.
