Botanical name – Strobilanthes dyeriana

Common name – Persian Shield, Royal Purple Plant

Description – This show indoor plant has large metallic purple leaves with dark green veins and edges. This soft stemmed shrub also makes a great eye-catching outdoor shade plant particularly in tropical gardens.  

Flower Colour – Blue

Flower Period – Late autumn to winter

Location – Prefers bright indirect light. Will grow outside in morning sun only and in a frost-free location. 

Care – Needs soil to remain moist but do not leave sitting in water. This plant like humidity so mist leaves regularly. Too much sun can bleach leaves. Use a slow-release fertiliser every six months. Not frost tolerant.
