Botanical name – Piper crocatum
Common name – Ornamental Pepper
Description – This trending indoor climbing plant has large deep olive-green heart-shaped leaves with vibrant pink veins. It can be grown up a totem or trellis or left to hang over a shelf. It also makes an excellent hanging basket specimen.
Location – Prefers bright to moderate indirect light. Requires a warm position and high humidity. Best placed in a pebble tray to maintain a constant temperature and humidity to avoid leaf drop.
Care – Use a well-draining potting mix with added perlite. Water regularly after top half of potting mix has dried out. Feed with a liquid fertiliser monthly during spring, summer and autumn.
