Botanical name – Philodendron hederaceum var. hederaceum
Common name – Philodendron micans, Velvet Leaf Philodendron
Description – This collectable indoor climbing plant has heart shaped leaves that start olive green with a pink tinge and mature to velvety dark green with red/purple underside. It is perfect for hanging baskets or climbing up a trellis.
Location – Prefers bright to moderate indirect light. It can tolerate low light however it can make the leaves smaller and vines leggy.
Care – Water regularly after top third of potting mix has dried out. Reduce frequency of watering in winter. Feed with a liquid fertiliser monthly during spring, summer and autumn.
