Botanical name – Pellionia pulchra
Common name – Trailing Watermelon Plant, Watermelon Pellionia, Watermelon Begonia, Polynesian Ivy, Rainbow Vine
Description – This unusual indoor plant has soft oval, green foliage with dark purple veins resembling a watermelon pattern. Its spreading growth habit makes it perfect for hanging baskets.
Location – Suitable for bright indirect light indoors or a sheltered outdoor part shade position.
Care – Use a premium well-draining potting mix. Allow top centimetre to dry out before watering and do not leave sitting in water. Feed with slow release fertiliser every six months. Light pruning will encourage denser growth.
