Botanical name – Monstera siltepecana
Common name – Silver Monstera
Description – This unusual climbing plant has deep green leaves with a silver sheen, which develop ornamental holes once the plant reaches maturity. It can be grown up a totem or trellis or left to hang over a shelf. It also makes an excellent hanging basket specimen. It is slow growing making it a low maintenance plant.
Location – Prefers bright to moderate indirect light. It can tolerate low light however it can make the leaves smaller and vines leggy.
Care – Use a well-draining potting mix with added perlite. Water regularly after top third of potting mix has dried out. Reduce frequency of watering in winter. Feed with a liquid fertiliser monthly during spring, summer and autumn.
