Botanical name – Jacaranda jasminoides
Common name – Purple Velvet Jacaranda
Description – A beautiful deciduous tree with a spreading, rounded crown and delicate, fern-like foliage. In late spring to early summer, it produces masses of stunning violet maroon bell shaped flowers, making it a popular landscape tree. The bark is smooth and grey, becoming fissured as the tree matures.

Fruiting – The tree produces long, slender, brown seed pods up to 20cm in length.
Location – Prefers well-drained soil in full sun (min 6 hours) to part shade. The tree is tolerant of a range of soil types and can handle dry conditions once established.
Care – Regular watering during establishment and through the warmer growing season. Pruning can be done to shape the tree, but is not necessary. The tree is hardy and relatively low-maintenance.
