Description
Botanical name – Dracaena deremensis ‘Janet Craig Compactum’
Common name – Pineapple Dracaena, Compacta Janet Craig
Description – The beautiful slow growing plant has long sword shaped deep green striped leaves on thick trunks. Compactum is a dwarf variety with smaller leaves and has a more compact habit. It is ideal as an impact plant for indoors or protected outdoor space. It is one of NASAs top 10 plants for purifying air in your home removing formaldehyde, benzene, trichloroethylene, and xylene.
Location – Bright to low light indoors or part to full shade outside (2-3 hours of morning sun only). Low light will limit growth.
Care – Keep soil moist but not wet during spring and summer during their growth period. Allow soil to partially dry between watering in autumn and winter. Sensitive to fluoride so use filtered or rainwater. Fertilise twice a year with an all-purpose slow-release fertiliser at half recommended amount to avoid leaf burn.
